The World and It’s Wisdom and God

John 1:10

He was in the world, and the world came into being through Him, yet the world did not know Him.

Comment

Imagine that, the creator is not known by the world that He created. Even though they were staring God incarnate in the face He wasn’t recognized or known. Why? It must be because they were children of Adam and Satan and spiritually dead by nature in sins and trespasses and had not received the Holy Spirit through generation from above; generated of God, becoming a new creation. Galatians 6:15, 2 Corinthians 5:17,

John 3:3,5,8, John 8:44 John 1:1-3,14,18, Ephesians 2:1, 2:5, Romans 5:15, 6:23

Comment – Why did the world hate Jesus Christ, God incarnate

John 3:19

And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness more than the Light, for their works were evil.

Romans 3:9-20

What then? Do we excel? Not at all! For we have charged both Jews and Greeks before, all with being under sin;

according as it has been written, “There is none righteous, not one!”

There is none that understands, there is “not one that seeks after God.

All turned away, they became worthless together, not one is doing goodness, not so much as one!” LXX-Psa. 13:1 -3

Their throat is an opened grave;” “they used deceit with their tongues; the poison of asps is under their lips;

whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.

Their feet are swift to shed blood;

ruin and misery are in their way;

and they did not know a way of peace;

there is no fear of God before their eyes.” LXX-Psa. 5:10; 139:4; 9:28; Isa. 59:7, 8; Psa. 35:2; MT-Psa. 14:1 -3; 5:9; 140:3; 10:7; Isa. 59:7, 8; Psa. 36:1

But we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those within the Law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world be under judgment to God.

Because by works of law not one of all flesh will be justified before Him, for through law is full knowledge of sin. Psa. 143:2

Ecclesiastes 7:20

For there is not a just man on the earth who does good, and does not sin.

1 John 2:15-17

Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him,

because all that which is in the world: the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

And the world is passing away, and its lust. But the one doing the will of God abides forever.

John 7:7

The world cannot hate you; but it hates Me because I witness about it, that its works are evil.

Comment– Jesus is talking with His brothers above in John 7:7 that did not believe ( The Gospel) into His atoning shed blood and imputed righteousness as the only grounds for salvation alone. Non believers of the Gospel do not cause offense to the unbelieving world. Consequently they are not hated by the world.

Below in John 15:18 Jesus is talking to His disciples that did believe into Him who will cause offense to the unbelieving world. The effectual Cross of Jesus Christ that actuality saves those for whom Christ represented is a stumbling block to the world. They think the cross is foolishness. 1 Corinthians 1:18-21

John 15:18

If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it has hated you.

Comment– Scripture describes the world and who the false god of this age is and the thinking and the doing that the unregenerate of the world follow.

1 Corinthians 4:3-7

But also if our gospel is being hidden, it has been hidden in those being lost,

in whom the god of this age has blinded the thoughts of the unbelieving, so that the brightness of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them.

For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves your slaves for the sake of Jesus.

Because it is God who said, “Out of darkness Light shall shine,” who shone in our hearts to give the brightness of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Isa. 42:6, 7, 16

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the excellence of the power may be of God, and not from us;

Comment

The Gospel is hidden ( not illuminated in the heart by God) in those being lost. They are unregenerate and still dead in sins and trespasses by nature and do not accept the things of the spirit such as the effectual payment of sin by the cross of Christ and His perfect imputed righteousness given to the account of His promised people as the only conditions for salvation; received by God given faith. The only faith that saves.

The unregenerate do not understand that they have no righteousness of their own, only God is good and those without the Holy Spirit bringing faith in the Gospel cannot please God and satisfy His holy righteous justice. Whether the unregenerate never believe or even hear the Gospel, they will still be without excuse according to Romans 1 Romans 10:1-4

Isaiah 64:6, Matthew 19:17

1 Corinthians 2:14

But a natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he is not able to know them , because they are spiritually discerned.

Comment

The reprobates have been fitted out for destruction and reprobated unconditionally according to purpose and the benefit of His elect from before creation. Romans 9 Romans 3,4

They are not able to receive spiritual things because they are spiritually discerned. They do not have Holy Spirit of God dwelling in them. Matthew 1:21-23

Comment – What does the world follow after?

1 Corinthians 1:18-31

For the word of the cross is foolishness to those being lost, but to us being saved, it is the power of God.

For it has been written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the understanding of the understanding ones.” Isa. 29:14

Where is the wise? Where the scribe? Where the lawyer of this world? Did God not make the wisdom of this world foolish?

For since in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom did not know God, God was pleased through the foolishness of preaching to save the ones believing.

And since Jews ask for a sign, and Greeks seek wisdom,

we on the other hand preach Christ crucified (truly an offense to Jews, and foolishness to Greeks),

but to the called-out ones, both to Jews and to Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God;

because the foolish thing of God is wiser than men, and the weak thing of God is stronger than men.

For you see your calling, brothers, that there are not many wise according to flesh, nor many powerful, not many wellborn.

But God chose the foolish things of the world that the wise might be put to shame, and God chose the weak things of the world so that He might put to shame the strong things.

And God chose the low-born of the world, and the despised, and the things that are not, so that He might bring to nothing the things that are,

so that no flesh might glory in His presence.

But of Him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, both righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

so that even as it has been written, “He that glories, let him glory in” the “Lord.” Jer. 9:24

1 John 2:15-16-17

Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him,

because all that which is in the world: the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

And the world is passing away, and its lust. But the one doing the will of God abides forever.

Those that do not believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ that God promises to save His people from their sins conditioned on the atoning shed blood of Jesus Christ and His imputed righteousness alone without contribution from those that Jesus Christ represented, are still lost.

Romans 1:16-17

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation to everyone believing, both to Jew first, and to Greek;

for in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; even as it has been written, “But the just shall live by” “faith.” Hab. 2:4
