John 6:63-65 (KJ3)
63. It is the Spirit, the (one) making alive. The flesh does not profit, nothing! The words which I speak to you are spirit and are life.
(Romans 8:8– Those in the flesh cannot please God)
64 But there are some of you who are not believing. For Jesus knew from (the) beginning who (they) are, the (ones) not believing, and who is the giving Him over.
65 And He said, Because of this, I have told you that no one is able to come ( believing) to Me if it is not given to Him from my Father.
They had not been generated from above John 3:3,5,8
Their “not believing”was because they weren’t given by The Father to Jesus. Jesus responded directly in verse 6:65 to the statement in John 6:64 that they were “not believing” by saying no one is able to come (believing) to Me unless it is given them by His Father.
John 6:35
Jesus said to them, I am the Bread of life; the one coming to Me will not at all hunger, and the one believing into Me will never ever thirst.
John 6:36
But I said to you that you also have seen Me and did not believe.
John 6:37
All that the Father gives to Me shall come to Me, and the one coming to Me I will in no way cast out.
In John 6:37 the verse starts out stating “All who the Father gives to Me shall come (believing) to Me……and in verses 39,40
John 6:38
For I have come down out of Heaven, not that I should do My will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
John 6:39
And this is the will of the Father sending Me, that of all that he has given Me, I shall not lose (any) of it, but shall raise it up in the last day.
John 6:40
And this is the will of the (One) who has sent me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him should have eternal life; And I’ll lift it up on the last day. Job 23-13 Isaiah 55:11 Isaiah 46:10
John 10:27-30
27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
28 And I give eternal life to them, and they shall not perish to the age, never! And not anyone shall pluck them out of My hand.
29 My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all, and no one is able to pluck out of My Father’s hand.
30 I and the Father are One!
Comment
John 6:64 – qualifies some of them as “not believing” the same persons as the ones in verse 65 that don’t come because they are not able to come. Believing and coming are jointly worked by God; dependent on being given to Jesus by the Father. Those that believe, come. Those that come to Jesus, believe.
They, not believing, are still dead in their sins and trespasses, a child of Satan, and unbelieving. They just don’t come to the True Jesus believing the True Gospel. They are dead spiritually and need to be made alive spiritually. They are not able to come believing unless they are generated from above. If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.
John 8:42-44 John 6:44 Ephesians 1:1-3 John 8:36 2 Corinthians 11:4 Ephesians 2:1-10 John 17:1-3 John 5:21 Matthew 11:27
It is safe to say from verses John 6:63-65 that believing and coming to Jesus are the fruit produced from the regenerating of God’s Spirit inside His promised people. The same people He promised to save and give to Jesus that He will preserve until the last day and forever.
Believing and coming are united and are a direct result of being given to Jesus by the Father and then drawn to Jesus by the Father through the spirit because they were chosen and given by The Father. John 6:37 John 3:3,5,8 2 Corinthians 4:6 John 3:26-27 Ezekiel 36:27 John 6:44 John 14:6 John 6:29
We also know that those who come believing are coming to Jesus in belief due to the complete sovereign unconditional act of God according to purpose according to the counsel of His Will. John 3:8 Ephesians 1:11
The Father conditioned His people’s salvation from their sins solely on the atoning shed blood of Jesus Christ and His imputed righteousness alone; and not of the willing nor of the running of the natural man for whom He died; chosen from before the foundation of the world. 1 Corinthians 2:14 Romans 9:16 Romans 3 Romans 1:16-17 Romans 4:3-8 Ephesians 1:4 Ephesians 1:11 Romans 9:11
John 3:8 – “The Spirit breathes where He desires….. Matthew 1:21
See John 6:37-44 John 3:3,5,8 and John 3:26-27 A man is able to receive nothing if it is not given him from Heaven. In John 3.26 at the end of the verse some came to John and said ….. “all are coming to Him” ( then in John 3:27 John equates coming, once again, to being given by The Father from Heaven John 6:29 1 Corinthians 4:7
John 6:63-65- unites jointly coming, believing as being a result of being given by The Father from Heaven or above.
Then in other verses the ones given by the Father are described as the unconditionally chosen, elect or children of Promise Romans 9 Romans 8:28-30 Ephesians 1:4 Ephesians 1:11 that God promised to save through the work and person of Jesus Christ alone
See Matthew 1:21 Romans 8 & 9 Romans 3 Romans 4 Romans 1:16-17 John 6:29 John 10:26 John 10 Ephesians 2:8-10
Summary– No one comes believing into Jesus’ work and person, The Gospel, as the only grounds for salvation unless it is given to him by The Father.
God, The Father, chooses, God, The Son, redeems and God, The Holy Spirit, regenerates those The Father chooses and the Son redeems ! God is One!
Gospel of Jesus Christ
God promises to save His people Matthew 1:21 Matthew 16-16-18 Revelation 7:9 Acts 20:28 from their sins conditioned solely on the atoning shed blood of Jesus Christ and His imputed righteousness without any contribution from those He promised to save from before the foundation of the world. Salvation is conditioned on His work and person alone. Galatians 2:20 Revelation 4:10-11 Ephesians 1:4 Romans 8:28-30 Romans 4:3-8 Romans 3:24-31, Romans 8:8-9, Romans 4:3-8, Isaiah 53
Do you believe the Gospel? If you believe the Gospel (the Good News) of Jesus Christ, God has caused you to pass from death to life.
John 5:24 1 Corinthians 4:7 John 6:29
He has shone into your heart the illumination of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:6 Matthew 11:27
All things were given over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and to whomever the Son purposes to reveal (Him)
Comment– When a person realizes the righteousness of God through Jesus Christ, He comes to know the Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit as the one God. All co- equal, co- eternal, co- powerful and co- glorious. He knows how far he falls short of God’s righteousness. He knows he is helpless and in total reliance on God through Jesus Christ for mercy. He knows he cannot provide God’s requirement of perfect righteousness to satisfy His Holy and Righteous just nature. Romans 3:9-31, Psalm 14:1-3, Psalm 51:5, John 8:44, Matthew 7:11
He comes believing through God given and worked faith knowing that salvation is conditioned solely on the atoning shed blood of the only worthy substitutional sacrifice of Jesus Christ and His imputed righteousness alone without effort or contribution from those He represented.
All reprobates unconditionally chosen from before the foundation of the world will never come to the knowledge of the truth; but yet, God commands all to repent, to change their minds about sinning against God and believing all that is false and to turn to God for mercy believing that salvation is conditioned on the work and person of Jesus Christ alone. Romans 1,2,3 makes it clear that all fall short of the glory of God and are without excuse whether they hear, or believe the Gospel.
So, if you hear His voice harden not your heart.
His people will out of love for what He has done for them, securing their salvation, will strive to keep His commandments of loving the true God and the one He sent, while loving their neighbor as thyself.
God promises to save His people from their sins (who are granted repentance regarding sin while at the same moment in time they turn to God asking for mercy) conditioned on the work and person of Jesus Christ alone who are taken by God from every nation, even tribe, language and people; God being just, justifier and a savior.
Luke 18:13-
And standing at a distance, the tax collector would not even lift up his eyes to Heaven, but smote on his breast, saying, God, be merciful to me, the sinner!
Comment– Matthew 11:27 tells us The Son reveals the Father to whomever the Son purposes . In Matthew 16:16-18 we have the Father revealing the Son to whomever He purposes. The revealing has nothing to do with flesh and blood.
You will no longer be judged according to works; earning you the lake of fire because you didn’t meet God’s perfect standard of righteousness. Revelation 20:13-15 Romans 3:20
Your sins were paid for by the only acceptable perfect sinless sacrifice, Jesus Christ, who was punished for your sin; satisfying God’s justice, making God just, justifier and a Savior.
You should be joyful and relieved because your salvation can never be taken away by anyone or anything else, including you. Jesus promised not to lose any the Father gave Him John 5:24 Ephesians 1:13-14 Romans 8 Psalm 35:9 Matthew 11:28, Isaiah 57:21 John 15:16
John 10:28
John 5:24
Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who hears My word, and believes the One who has sent Me, has everlasting life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.
John 6:47
Truly, truly, I say to you, the one believing into Me has everlasting life.
Your salvation was planned and determined by God from before the foundation of the world.
Ephesians 1:3-4
All of God’s unconditionally chosen children of promise will sometime in their life come to the knowledge of the truth and be saved.
