Romans 1:16-17
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation to everyone believing, both to Jew first, and to Greek;
Romans 1:17
for in it ( The Gospel ) the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; even as it has been written, “But the just shall live by” “faith.” Habakkuk. 2:4
Comment
Why would any believer be embarrassed of The Gospel?
He won’t be ashamed of the Gospel because he knows the Gospel is the only way to be saved from their sin. Acts 4:12, 2 Corinthians 4:6
The Righteousness of God was revealed in Jesus Christ and in the Gospel . Romans 10:1-4
He was The Word that was with God and was God who became flesh. He created all things that were ever created. Nothing came into being except through Him.
Colossians 1:16, Romans 11:36, Revelation 4:11, John 1:1-3,14,18
So, to silence those that say the creator of all things was a creation, himself, is nonsense.
He was the only person of the triune ( Father, Son, Holy Spirit) eternal, self existing, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent God that was seen by mankind; both in the Old Testament (Pre incarnate) and New Testament ( incarnate)
John 14:9, Genesis 19:24, John 1:18, Genesis 18:1, Isaiah 46:10, Psalm 139:8, Job 23:13, Daniel 4:35, Psalm 2:12, John 4:24, John 10:30-38
The 2- Fold Power of God in the Gospel is
1.) Jesus Christ provided the only conditions of salvation for His Children, Jew and Gentile, that He promised to save ( Matthew 1:21-23). (Acts 20:28 ) (Revelation 5:9,7:9).
He was the only qualified person between God and man to mediate, satisfy, and provide payment for sin to a Holy, Righteous and Just God. Romans 3:24-26, 1 Timothy 2:5, Isaiah 53, Hebrews 10:1-18
His atoning shed blood had to be an eternally valuable perfect one time sacrifice for the sin of His people; never to be repeated, that is only found in a qualified mediator that was both God and Man. Acts 4:12, Hebrews 9:22-28, John 17:5
His sacrifice satisfied the penalty of sin for His promised people. It satisfied the necessary justice of God through His atoning shed blood and His imputed righteousness alone.
He provided an imputed righteousness through a perfect life lived in thought, word and deed; for His people that they could not provide for themselves. Romans 4:3-8
The triune God raised Jesus from the dead showing that The work of salvation on the cross was successfully finished or paid in full as He said in (John 19:30)
2.) The Gospel that God promises to save His people from their sins who were chosen from the foundation of the world is a salvation that is only conditioned on the atoning shed blood of Jesus Christ and His imputed righteousness alone without effort or work from those for whom He died and lived a perfect life as their substitute. (Ephesians 1:4-11)
This Gospel which is received by God worked and given faith, as the scripture says, is the only way of being saved from your sin. Romans 8:28-30, John 6:35-65
(John 6:29, Ephesians 2:8-10)
The 2nd fold of the power of God in the Gospel, is the gift of faith that is worked in His people and given to them unto belief of the Gospel that saves. (John 3:3-8) (John 6:29), (Ephesians 2:8-10), (2 Thessalonians 2:13)
Jesus Christ provided the conditions that save and the gift of faith that receives His imputed righteousness and payment for sin.
Once you are generated from above, you will realize that you have no righteousness of your own,, that only God is good, and that He is the one that has mercy on those whom He chooses to have mercy and that He hardens those against the Gospel that He chooses; all according to purpose and the counsel of His will. (Proverbs 16:4, Romans 9:15-18, Romans 9:16, Matthew 11:27-30, John 3:3,5,8, John 1:12-13, Luke 18:10-14, Isaiah 64:6, Romans 3:10-12, Mark 10:18, Psalms 51:5, Psalm 130:3, Luke 23:39-43)
God through Jesus Christ is the one working the willing and the doing in His people through the spirit for His good pleasure; making them new creations in Christ Jesus; conforming them into the image of Christ which will be completed at His return when He resurrects His people into incorruptibility; unable to sin. Philippians 1:6, Philippians 2:13, ( 2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 9:8)
1 Corinthians 15:52-54
This is the 2- fold power of God in the Gospel of Jesus Christ unto salvation unto those believing. God through Jesus Christ provides the conditions of salvation and the gift of faith in the Gospel that shows you are saved. Salvation is totally of God Jonah 2:9
John 6:47
Truly, truly, I say to you, the one believing into Me has everlasting life.
1 Corinthians 2:14
But a natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he is not able to know them , because they are spiritually discerned.
Comment
The natural man doesn’t understand his need for the Gospel because he is spiritually dead in sins and trespasses and without the spirit of Christ unto belief of the Gospel.
2 Corinthians 4:3-4
But also if our gospel is being hidden, it has been hidden in those being lost,
in whom the god of this age has blinded the thoughts of the unbelieving, so that the brightness of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them.
2 Corinthians 4:6
Because it is God who said, “Out of darkness Light shall shine,” who shone in our hearts to give the brightness of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Isaiah 42:6, 7, 16
1 Corinthians 1:18
For the word of the cross is foolishness to those being lost, but to us being saved, it is the power of God.
Comment
If you believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ, it is a miracle performed by the God of all creation. It is an act of God by grace ( unmerited) through the gift of faith that did not originate from you.
