Effectual Hearing

2 Corinthians 4:6 Because it is God who said, “Out of darkness Light shall shine,” the One who shone in our hearts to give the illumination of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Isa. 42:6, 7, 16

Matthew 1:21

But your eyes are blessed because they
see; and your ears because they hear.

15 He said to them (Disciples), But you, whom do you say Me to be?

16 And answering, Simon Peter said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 And answering, Jesus said to him, Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah, for flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but My Father in Heaven.

Comment

God The Father caused Peter to hear. God, The Father, shined into Peter’s heart the illumination of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ

18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock ( shed blood and imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ ) I will build My Assembly, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against her ( Bride of Christ) ( The Assembly of Jew and Gentile believers in all the world) Revelation 7:9

Matthew 11:27

27 All things were given over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and to whomever the Son purposes to reveal Him.

John 10:26

26 But you do not believe, for ( because) you are not of My sheep, even as I said to you.

John 8:43

43 Why do you not know My speech? It is because you are not able to hear My Word.

44 You are of the devil as father, and the lusts of your father you desire to do. That one was a murderer from the beginning,

John 6:65

65 And He said, Because of this, I have told you that no one is able to come (hearing) (believing) to Me if it is not given to him from My Father.

Comment

Some are not blessed with ears to hear (believe) the Truth until a given point in time or never. No one knows who are God’s elect ) Believing is the work of God (John 6:29)

The test of whether or not you have passed from death to life is do you believe the Gospel of Christ that God promises to save His people conditioned solely on Jesus Christ’s atoning shed blood and His imputed righteousness alone without anything contributed by the ones for whom He died; chosen from before the foundation of the world.

Mark 16:16 Romans 1:16-17 Romans 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11 Ephesians 2:8-10 John 6:37-44,65 1 Corinthians 15 John 5:21 2 Corinthians 4:6 Hebrews 9:22 Leviticus 17:11 Hebrews 9:12 Hebrews 9 Hebrews 10 John 5:24

The fallen spiritually dead descendants of Adam before generation of a new heart and spirit from above; becoming a new creation, cannot satisfy God’s just requirement of a perfect or sufficient righteousness and must be charged or imputed with Christ’s perfect righteousness through the gift of faith.

Jesus Christ, The Word was God and with God became flesh must receive the wrath of God and punishment on the cross shedding His blood; vicariously substituting on behalf of His people to satisfy God’s justice; making God just, justifier, and a savior. Mark 15:34 Mark 15:34-37 John 10 Isaiah 45:21 Romans 3:26

Then, God will continue His work in His people through His spirit providing the willingness and the doing for His good pleasure; glorifying Himself in the hearts and minds of His people while completing His work at His return when He changes His people from the corruptible to the incorruptible and makes all things new; a new Heaven and a new earth Romans 3:20, Philippians 1:6 2:13 Revelation 4:11 John 3:3,5,8 Genesis 2:17 Romans 5:12 1 Corinthians 15 Isaiah 65:17 Revelation 21:1

Matthew 1:21, Romans 3 & 4 Romans 8,9,10,11 Ephesians 2:8-10 John 3:3,5,8 Romans 1:16-17 John 6:37-44,65

John 10:27-29
27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

28 And I give eternal life to them, and they shall not perish to the age, not ever! And not anyone shall snatch them out of My hand.

29 My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.

John 3:3,5,8

Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, If one is not generated from above, he is not able to see the kingdom of God.

Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, If one is not generated out of water and Spirit, he is not able to enter into the kingdom of God.

Comment

Based on Ephesians 5:25-26, it appears the bathing of the “water” in (the) word above in verse 5 is a metaphor for the cleansing found in God’s Word through the Spirit

8 The Spirit breathes where He desires, and you hear His voice; but you do not know from where He comes, and where He goes; so is everyone having been generated from the Spirit.

Comment

“The Spirit breathes where it desires” expresses God’s sovereignty in who will hear

Acts 13:48

48 And hearing, the nations rejoiced and glorified the Word of the Lord. And as many as were appointed to eternal life (effectual hearing) believed.

Acts 19:9-10

9 And the Lord said to Paul through a vision in the night, Do not fear, but speak, and do not keep silence;

10 because I am with you, and no one shall set on you to oppress you; because there is much people to Me in this city.

John 10:16

And I have other sheep (Gentiles) which are not of this fold (Jews). I must also lead those, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock, one Shepherd.

Comment

God has many people (elect) in this city mentioned above in verse Acts 19:9-10 that will hear, believe and come. He tells Paul not to fear because He is with him.

Also, in John 10:16 Jesus refers to other sheep that He has not of this fold (Jews) that will hear. The other fold that will hear is most likely the Gentiles.

All good gifts come from above James 1:17 Since every good gift comes from above, then faith in the Gospel of Christ which is a good gift must be a gift from above or God

Comment

If you believe the Gospel of Christ, rest assured, that faith has been unconditionally given to you from above.

Since, you have the spirit of God now dwelling in you and Jesus Christ died for you and rose again for your justification, you will love Him because He first loved you.

It is the natural fruit of the spirit to love Jesus Christ. God is love. Jesus said, if you love Me keep my commandments which are not burdensome.

Love God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and your neighbor as yourself.

Jesus Christ bought you and secured your salvation with a sacrificial price. Therefore, In whatever you do, do to the glory of God through Jesus Christ.
