Did Adam and Eve have Freewill ?

Ecclesiastes 7:29

29 See, this only I have found, that God has made man upright, but they have sought out many inventions.

It is believed by some :

God created Adam with the ability to sin or not to sin, but this is an unproven assumption that God created Adam with the ability to sin or not to sin

In Ecclesiastes 7:29 above, the verse tells us ….they sought out many inventions.

We know that Eve was deceived by the lying Serpent that enticed her with the lie that she could become like God knowing good and evil ; if she ate the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The Serpent said “ Dying you shall not die” and he gave the impression God was holding back knowledge because He didn’t want them to become like him knowing good and evil

Genesis 2:17,3:4,5,6,7,8

God said “Dying you shall die” Since she ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil she must of had the desire to follow after and obey the false god, the Serpent, because she didn’t listen to her husband who was the head of the family and following the command of God. Genesis 2:18,21-25

Adam was listening and following the command of The true God who said not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil because “ Dying you shall die” until he ended up listening to the voice of his wife, Eve, after she ate the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

So, in essence Adam also followed after a false god when he listened to the voice of his wife over God and ate the fruit given to him by his wife.

Eve had the preferential desire to follow after the serpent and Adam had the preferential desire to follow after the voice of his wife when he ate from the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Proverbs 4:23

Comment

The issues of life that brought death were determined out of Adam and Eve’s heart which generated the vain or worthless thoughts that caused them to eat the fruit

God made Adam and Eve upright and they didn’t know they were naked while in the protective environment of God.

It wasn’t until they were confronted with outside influence do we see the true nature of Adam and Eve.

First of all we know God told the truth when he told Adam if you eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil “Dying you shall die” ….. spiritual death came because we know all fall short of the glory of God …. simply demonstrated by the fact we all became liars …. the spiritual death eventually brought physical death.

God did not create Adam with equal opportunity to sin or not to sin which was demonstrated by Adam desiring in his heart to go after other gods which took precedent over trusting in the true God with all his heart. Proverbs 21:1, Exodus 4:21, Romans 9:21, Deuteronomy 2:30

Since Jesus Christ did not have the ability to sin then Adam since he sinned did not have the ability not to sin given the right circumstances. Adam was not God became flesh. Luke 19:18

The fact that God in the end will make his people sinless says alot by comparing the nature of Adam and Eve that had a propensity to sin under the right circumstances and fall short of trusting God above all else. 1 John 3:2,3:9, 1 Corinthians 15:52

God didn’t create Adam and cut him loose as a free agent with the ability to produce undesired and unexpected results. God is omniscient. He knew all before he created and had a purpose in all that he created. Isaiah 46:10, Isaiah 45:7

Revelation 4:11

11 Lord, You are worthy to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because You created all things, and through Your will they exist and were created.

Romans 11:36

Because of Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen.

Acts 17:28

For in Him we live and move and exist, as also some of the poets among you have said, For we are also His offspring.

Jesus Christ, the eternal God, became flesh. Jesus was the only human that had the freedom not to sin Luke 18:19, John 8:36

Comment

Adam did not have the freedom of not sinning that Jesus Christ had ….because if he did have the freedom, he would not have sinned and fell short of the glory of God. Jesus Christ being God became flesh is the only person that had that freedom.

Adam failed to live up to the first commandment “ Have no other gods before me”The desire was present in his heart to go after other gods therefore Adam did not have the freedom to freely choose between 2 equally preferred alternatives …since he had a preference in his heart to go after other Gods. Did Adam and Eve have Freewill? No

A glass of milk can never be a glass of orange juice

Adam and Eve didn’t have the ability to keep from sinning … because Adam and Eve desired in their hearts to follow after other gods. Jeremiah 13:23, Proverbs 4:23

Comment

Keep in mind Jesus Christ did not sin in thought, word or deed and trusted in the Father completely and did not fall short of the glory of God. He was God became flesh. John 1:14 He could not fall short of the glory of God because he was God. Luke 18:19 Jesus was given by God the spirit without limit John 3:34

John 1:14 He could not fall short of the glory of God because he was God. Luke 18:19 Jesus was given by God the spirit without limit John 3:34

Adam and Eve’s thoughts and desires didn’t include trusting God first with all their heart, above all

Fallen man

Genesis 6:5, Genesis 8:21, Psalm 14:1, Psalm 51:5, Ecclesiastes 7:20, 9:3, Jeremiah 17:9, John 8:34, Romans 6:17, Ephesians 2:1-3

Comment

Consequently, Adam and Eve although in the beginning had not sinned and were made upright they had a propensity to sin given the right circumstances…they desired to follow after other gods because the desire was present in their hearts which took precedent over trusting the one only source of life. Once the preferred desire to go after other gods was found in their hearts and executed, Satan became their father as displayed in God’s word

Ezekiel 28:15, John 5:26, John 8:44

Ecclesiastes 7:29

Since God is omniscient, The fall must have been planned before creation by God in order to glorify himself in Jesus Christ to all of creation by saving a people out of fallen humanity; demonstrating his love and mercy along with demonstrating his power and wrath on vessels fitted out for destruction to be judged for their sin. Matthew 1:21, Romans 9:17,22,23, Revelation 4:11

Evil exists because…..

God wants to show his Power and his Wrath on vessels fitted out for destruction in order that he make known the riches of his glory on vessels of mercy which he prepared for glory from before the foundation of the world Romans 9:17,22,23

God is showing man what happens when you put any other gods before him and you think too highly of yourself. Deuteronomy 8:19, Deuteronomy 6:14,15, Luke 1:51, James 4:6, Proverbs 6:16-19

Man, in and of himself, is totally empty and reliant on God for everything good. He has nothing to offer God that he does not receive as a gift. James 1:17, 1 Corinthians 4:7

Luke 18:19, John 1:12,13, John 3:27, Luke 11:13

God is demonstrating that salvation is totally an unconditional act of God without any contribution from those he is saving and it is his work from regeneration, to the giving of faith in the gospel of Christ along with imputing his righteousness to their account and shining the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ into their hearts … to final glory; the resurrection of the immortal incorruptible sinless body fit for heaven 1 Corinthians 15:53,54

Comment

Free will advocates in my opinion would deprive God of his glory in salvation if they were deprived of their idea of having a “free will”… so this would make it apparent that the free will advocates are worshipping a God in their own image. The True God has absolute sovereign control over all his creation. Isaiah 46:10, Isaiah 48:11

Jonah 2:9

This idea of having or desiring a “free will”seems to be a result of their desire to eat the fruit to obtain the result of the delusion offered by Satan “You will be like God” ….

Natural man now believes he is free from outside influence because he has the knowledge of good and evil like God; but it is a delusion because he became spiritually dead unable to please God after eating the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil.

God told Adam “dying you shall die”.

Now the delusion of freedom is inherent in fallen man and he still doesn’t trust in the true God above all else but believes in gods of his own creation out of his fallen image worshipping the creation over the creator

Romans 1, Genesis 2,3 Ecclesiastes 1:14

The Gospel of Christ or God

God promises to save his unconditionally chosen people; Matthew 1:21, as a gift, Ephesians 1 & 2, Ephesians 2:8-10, John 6:37-44, Romans 9:16, Romans 10:1-4, John 3:27, Romans 8 & 9 based on the substitutionary work of Jesus Christ’s atoning shed blood; Jesus, being punished, receiving the wrath of God on the cross, paying for his people’s sins and imputing, charging or crediting,

Romans 3 & 4, Matthew 27:46

His perfect substitutionary righteousness in thought, word and deed to their account with the gift of faith in the gospel; Romans 3 Romans 6:5, 1 John 3:2 Hebrews 4:15

then glorifying them in the resurrection with their immortal incorruptible bodies with the eternal inability to sin that will be fit for the new heaven and new earth where all things will become new and all will freely worship God throughout eternity knowing The Way and The Truth and The Life. Matthew 19:28, Revelation 21:1

1 Corinthians 15:49

Comment

In this fallen life the just shall live by faith in the good news of their salvation that is based on another, Jesus Christ, …glorifying God in their bodies waiting for the day of his return when they will be given their eternal incorruptible sinless bodies fit for the new heaven and the new earth Revelation 21, Romans 1:17

The one calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ knows he is the only savior that can help the helpless in every way

Matthew 5:3, Romans 5:6, Matthew 15:25, Mark 9:24, Romans 10:13

John 3:27

27 John answered and said, A man is able to receive nothing if it is not given to him from Heaven.
